Illumination of the Shadows

So, we expected the unexpected around the time of the Mars Uranus conjunction at 26 Taurus, also conjunct the fixed star Algol with its themes of ‘losing it’ and changes or threats to leadership. The conjunction was exact between the 14th to the 16th July though the energy began to build from around the 8th.

The antidote to the shock of the orange is the complementary colour, the protective deep blue of the Mother. Especially as we are still soaking up the beauty of the current New Moon in its own sign of Cancer cycle, this year conjunct our spiritual sun Sirius, with themes of sanctuary, home, expanded consciousness, divine providence and support of the ‘blue people’.

Later this morning on the 21st at 11.16 UK time we have the second Full Moon in Capricorn at 29 degrees in an out of sign conjunction to transformative Pluto in Aquarius. Though not technically a ‘blue moon’ it carries some of the energy of a ‘blue moon’ with a sense of heightened, unprecedented energy. Another indicator of unusual events that happen ‘out of the blue’. A blue moon is usually two Full Moons in a month whereas this is two Full Moons in a sign.

Another pointer to this blue – orange connection is that we’re bridging the deep blue time of Cancer and full-on shining Leo as the Sun soon joins Mercury and Venus in Leo. This orange bottle is ‘the Harvest’ bottle number 27 and reflects the energy of Leo. Through resilience and determination, we can harvest our gifts and our potential rather than allowing our energy to harvested or exploited by others whether this is by handing over our power or allowing ourselves to be emotionally triggered.

This turquoise and blue bottle ‘the Whale’ number 34 is calling now with its ancient wisdom and ushers in a sense of peace and the birth of something fresh and new as we anchor ourselves in the flow.

In the very last degree of Capricorn, the most patriarchal of all the signs, today’s Full Moon is about being right at the end of a very long cycle and we can give way gracefully to what is waiting to be birthed. The light reveals what is hiding in the shadows. Both Capricorn energy and Pluto can go along with some judgement, so this isn’t an easy Full Moon and it may mean we become aware of our own shadow energies as well as being on the receiving end of other people’s projections or judgement. It’s all too easy to invert what is true in support of our own inner bias.

This stunning picture of the Moon was taken by one of the participants on a guided night-time walk I went on a couple of evenings ago and illustrates the illumination of what lies in the shadow beautifully. In the light part of the Moon I see a figure with an open crown chakra or ‘white hat’ sitting next to a baby dragon. What do you see?
